I’m glad you like “Southern Fried” Shag. It is a regional dance that was born out of black clubs in the South as observed by teenage white boys and girls modifying the jitterbug and dancing to music that was off limits to them by their parents. It’s origin is arguably North or South Carolina. No one really knows. A good source of information aboout our lifestyle can be found at these web sites.

http://www.beachshag.com/ Great resource for music and shag. One of the most knowledgeable DJ’s around.
http://www.shagdance.com/ Home of the shaggers and all shagging events. You might want to contact a board member for more information for starting a club.
We have an big 10-day shag event in April and September with many of the beach clubs participating, full of DJ’s, shaggers, free food, dance lessons and demonstrations, beach bands, shuttle service, and many other features. All of it can be read about on this web site.
SEE WHAT YOU GOT YOURSELF INTO. LOL Let me know if you need more and thanks for checking out our web site. Come back often. Linda Gilliam, Webmaster/Newsletter
