MAKE A WISH

Make A Wish was conceived when SASS decided that the club would not be just a social club but also a benevolent club that gives back to its community. With that in mind, the first Make-A-Wish dance was born. Well, sort of. It was originally called Shaggin’ in the Sandhills. (If you look at the flyer for this year, you’ll notice it is still called that even though it’s more commonly called the Make-A-Wish dance). The first few Shaggin’ in the Sandhills dances were in October. The dance became so successful, that in 2000 it was decided by the board, that Make A Wish would still get 50% but that we should also include other local charities such as HAVEN in Lee County, Habitat for Humanity, Highway to Healing, Inc., Helping Hand Clinic, Boys and Girls Club, Don Buie Scholarship Fund, Lee County Boy Scouts, Bread Basket of Lee County, Relay for Life, Community Hospice and Liberty Hospice, Lee County Special Olympics, Lee County Firefighters Fire Fund, Just to name a few.

Since its inception, we, as a club, charter members to current members, have participated in donating over $300,000 to Make-A-Wish and other local charities.

“Make A Wish has and will continue to touch so many lives.”
